Alessandro Balzano

Who are you?

I am an Italian developer working at Capgemini Italy. Born in 1993, I earned a diploma di perito informatico (degree of IT technician) in 2012, started working for Capgemini Italy in 2013. Online I am known as alfateam123 or winter

What did you work on?

In the first year of professional work, I worked on Oracle databases 10g and 11g, using PL/SQL and Perl, from 2013 to 2014 while maintaining an internal travel booking system for a client.

After that, I spent two years working on airborne defense systems, simulators for naval defense systems and internal tooling for debugging. I used C++ and Python (both Py2 and Py3) on different Linux distros (Gentoo, Ubuntu and others). The frameworks I used daily were Qt (Qt4 and Qt5), ZeroMQ, POCO and GoogleTest

What are you doing right now?

Currently, I'm a frontend engineer and build single-page web applications that are good-looking and functional at the same time.

After a couple of months using angular.js, I have worked full-time on a Polymer-based project, running on Predix, to monitor shop floor machines' status over several plants. Right now, I am working on a React codebase for an company internal project to track and improve projects maturity in different topics (automation, customer satisfaction, etc)

When I'm not in the office, I maintain some open source projects on Github and post something on my tech blog. You may want to review my small contributions to open source projects too.
